Brian Barden
Brian joined Steven Abbott Associates in May 2011. Prior to that he had run his own planning consultancy in Kendal for a period of over 25 years.
His original background was in local government and he worked with Westmorland County Council from 1968 to 1974, briefly for Eden District Council, and then for twelve and a half years with the Lake District National Park Authority.
He has a wide experience of rural planning matters, particularly in National Parks, but has worked generally in Cumbria and the North West of England.
He is very much a general practitioner dealing with all types of planning applications and planning policy matters, being able to help those with small problems such as house extensions or advertisements, right through to housing schemes for in excess of 100 dwellings, industrial developments, and recreational sites.
His clients include Holgates Caravan Parks Ltd, Russell Armer – housing developers based in Kendal, English Lakes Hotels group, the Bateman group, Houghtons Parkhouse, and Applethwaite.
